The Black Management Forum (BMF) is pleased to congratulate Phuti Mahanyele-Dabengwa on her appointment as SA CEO of the global Naspers management team.

Phuti Mahanyele-Dabengwa is a businesswoman who has been at the helm of 5 different companies and holds the position of Executive Chairperson at Sigma Capital Pty Ltd., Chairperson for Gigajoule Africa (Pty) Ltd. and Chairperson of Bain & Company South Africa, Inc. She is also on the board of five other companies.

In the past she was Chief Executive Officer of Shanduka Group (Pty) Ltd, Managing Director at Shanduka Energy (Pty) Ltd., Head-South Africa Project Finance at Development Bank of Southern Africa Ltd. and Vice President at Fieldstone, Inc.

Mahanyele-Dabengwa received an undergraduate degree from Rutgers State University of New Jersey and an MBA from De Montfort University.

“We are extremely proud of Mahanyele-Dabengwa’s appointment and we have the utmost confidence in her skills, expertise and experience she will bring to the role”, said BMF President Andile Nomlala.

Her appointment is well suited and comes at a pivotal time because as argued by Mahanyele- Dabengwa at a Women’s Leadership Conference 2012, “the greater role for women in business is necessary not only to rectify a social injustice but, more importantly, because there is an economic and business imperative to use the talents of women to solve the problems that the world faces”, Nomlala continued.

“Mahanyale-Dabengwa is a capable leader and accomplished professional who espouses the values of the BMF and we are confident that her steady and unfaltering leadership will take Naspers to even greater heights”, Nomlala concluded.

                                                                          - END –
